Thanks to everyone involved with today's summer funtime event - particularly to Elaine for her arrangements and liasing with the church staff and Nancy from Baby Ballet. www.babyballet.co.uk
Tommy's in Yorkshire in association with Baby Ballet hosted a Summer Fun Time fundraising event at Thackley Methodist Church, near Bradford.
Emmerdale star James Hooton, who plays Sam Dingle, together with fellow cast members Lucy Pargeter (Chastity Dingle), James Baxter (Jake Doland) and Luke Tittensor (Daz Sugden) joined in the fun of the day, which raised £653 for Tommy's.
Despite dismal weather lots of fun was had with a 'Beat the Emmerdale Goalie' penalty shoot out, and a chance to join Twinkle Bear for a ballet taster session. Several stalls and activities ensured the children and adults were kept busy. These included a Toy Tombola, Colouring Competition, Cake Stall, and Bouncy Castle, Phoenix Cards and Stationary and a raffle.
Cream Teas were served throughout the afternoon and the Emmerdale stars for photographs and signed autographs. "This has been a marvellous event with lots to do for all the family," said Elaine Law, principle organiser. In a short welcoming speech, Sharon Underwood (Branch Chair) thanked everyone for attending and supporting the event, the Emmerdale Stars for providing there support free of charge, the Church Committee for the use of the facilities, and all the stall holders and organisers for their generous gift of time and energy.
"Today has been wonderful - the whole branch and their families have turned out to help run the event - husbands, partners, grandmas & granddads, and our children have all been here to help. Without their support we would not be as successful as we are at supporting Tommy's. Thank you to each and every one of you and well done," said Sharon in acknowledging everyone's contribution to the success of the day.
